On Sunday we did a little Santa visit. Just for Charlie, there was no way we were taking our two-week old baby girl out on a 35 degree night! She happily stayed with Mimi.
He was a little hesitant, but he didn’t cry- and even gave a glimmer of a smile at the end! We didn’t even have to bribe him with the cookies. We also drove around to see the Christmas lights. It was so nice- and that’s when I realized that the only time I had left the house in over two weeks was to go to the doctor’s office! I’m discovering that’s life with a toddler and a newborn. And now Charlie is at preschool and Sammy is napping, so I’m off to do the same.
Born November 27, 2013 at 8:13 pm. Weighing 7 lbs, 2 oz. and 18 inches long. Miss Samantha Grace:
We are all completely smitten with her!
Charlie is doing very well transitioning into his new role as big brother. He was having a little snack when he visited me in the hospital and she started fussing- he offered her a bacon sandwich. And as he was leaving, my dad was holding him up so he could see her in her bassinet and he said “Bye friend!” and I thought my heart would melt. Now that we have been home for a couple of weeks he usually ignores her- but he doesn’t get mad when she cries and he will tell you, “Her is fragile.” (It’s what he said when his teachers asked about the new baby too… I hope he doesn’t think thats her name?!) He usually just calls her Baby, but he will say Sammy if we ask him to.
She is doing great: we had her two week check up yesterday and she weighed in at 7 lbs, 13 oz and measured 20.25 inches; well above birth weight which is great! She had some difficulties eating in the first few days at home- of course, she was a champ in the hospital and then decided to have trouble once we were on our own! But that seems to have worked itself out. Now if we could all just sleep at night…
Tomorrow is my first day on my own with the two of them, and I’m pretty nervous about how it will all go. Fortunately its Friday! Wish me luck.
